I’ve been hinting and talking about this for a while now, but I’m opening my own Etsy store on the 1st of September! I figured I’d give you guys a sneak peak before then and tell you a little about why I wanted to open a store, and of course, what I’ll be selling! I’ll be writing about the blog more often as I make new products, and as Fin models them. In honour of the launch, next Tuesday’s post will be a ‘meowdeling’ post!
As you might be able to guess by looking at the logo I designed, I’ll be making pet accessories and toys. As of right now, I’m a little more focused on making things for cats, but I’m figuring out how to make dog collars and toys as well, so keep a look out for that!
I started making little toys for my grandparents’ cats when I was about 14, just knotting wool strings and sometimes balling up the ends for the cats to play with, and eventually made some for other cats I knew as well. I forgot about making toys for a long time though, right up until I found Fin, and then the madness started. My mom gave me a ton of material she had left over from her craft projects, and I started making toys again (thanks Mom!). I brought toys with me to the breeder’s, and they were such a hit that I kept making more, and bringing more, so all the kittens could take one with them when going to their new forever homes. I also participated in the paw it forward initiative that’d been going around on Instagram, and sent out
some home made toys. Somewhere along the line I decided I’d try selling the toys, and after having asked some of my friends, I decided on going with Etsy.
Since this is just a sneak peak, I won’t show you everything, but you can see some of the materials I use, little sample products and some other things I’ve made in this picture. I’ll be adding products and new colours as we go, so if you have a request or idea, I would love to hear about it!
The store launches at just before midnight on the 31st of August, so it’ll be open on the 1st of September. Please stop by if you have the time! (:
